Thessaloniki is a city with rich history and culture. It is the second largest in Greece after the capital Athens. The town is a popular tourist destination for many Bulgarians, not only because of their proximity to our country. You can stroll along the coastal streets and explore the famous sights such as the White Tower, St. Dimitar Church, the city's fortress wall, the Galeriya Arch, the St. George rotunda and others. The city is well-developed, with large squares and wide boulevards.By the Second Balkan War (1912) he was within the Ottoman Empire with the name Salonika, and then returned to Greece and renamed to Thessaloniki.
