YALA NATIONAL PARK

HOME OF ELEPHANTS AND LEOPARDS

Yala National Park consists of five blocks, with the two blocks on the southeast coast being the most visited by tourists. The 979 square kilometers here are home to a variety of ecosystems, from jungles to freshwater wetlands, an ideal setting for the diversity of wildlife. Yala is home to more than 200 species of birds and 40 species of mammals, the most famous being the leopard population! There are more leopards per unit area in the National Park than almost anywhere else in the world! This mammal majestically displays its posture, strolling gracefully or taking its afternoon nap in the branches of a tree. Here herds of elephants can be spotted everywhere, bathing by the lake or noisily munching on the branches of a bush or tree. Cautious deer can be spotted moving among these giants, watching out for lurking danger. In secluded nooks and crannies, or just out of sight, one may see crocodiles, peacocks, monkeys, sloths, buffalo, wild boar, deer, and golden jackals. Amid the flat grasslands, resembling a landscape from Africa, the large feathered inhabitants of Yala - pelicans, storks, herons, and pink flamingos - proudly flap their wings. All this abundance of flora and fauna accommodates Sri Lanka's extremely rich ecosystem and makes it one of the must-visit places on the island!

EKHO SAFARI 3*

The hotel complex *EKHO SAFARI is one of the best choices in the region. The place we have selected will impress you with its tranquility and picturesque views of Lake Tisza. You will be accommodated in fully renovated and refurbished spacious rooms with all amenities. With warm shades in the decor, air conditioning, and satellite TV, this hotel complex provides the ideal rest after a long day full of impressions. Dinner and breakfast are included with your accommodation and served in the restaurant on the ground floor. The cuisine offers exquisite dishes combining Western and traditional Sri Lankan flavors, satisfying every taste. The outdoor terrace with a fantastic panoramic view of Lake Tissa further enhances the enjoyment of your trip!

NUWARA ELIA

"LITTLE ENGLAND"

Often referred to as "Little England", this sophisticated mountain community exudes a true British village feel! This wonderful escape from the modern world is nestled in the hills, filling every visitor's lungs with fresh air, soothing the eyes with green scenes, and refreshing the body with a cool climate. This provides an ideal environment for relaxation and adventure. One of the famous attractions here is the tea plantations, arranged in neat rows and reflecting the unique culture of the island of Sri Lanka. Exploring the tea tradition with a visit to a tea factory is an unforgettable experience including tea tasting and walks among the tea bushes. Nuwara Eliya offers many other remarkable places to visit, each one deeply connected to nature. Lake Gregory and Victory Park captivate with their views, and the Lovers' Leap waterfall, apart from its sheer size, captivates with a folk tale of two lovers shrouded in mystery.

Summerhill Breeze 3*

During our short stay in Nueva Elia, we chose an amazing place where tranquility and beauty merge in harmony. The three-star *Summerhill Breeze is surrounded by pines and cypress trees. A welcoming path of blue hydrangeas leads to the building itself, where the restaurant offers generous 180° panoramic views of the mountains, green tea plantations, and attractive colonial-style houses. The accommodation rooms offer an ideal haven for a well-deserved rest - comfortable amenities and private balconies. Dinner and breakfast in the main restaurant served buffet style, are included with a night's stay here. A variety of fine cuisine awaits you - Western, Eastern, and Chinese. If you wish to relax there is a bar in the hotel area that offers an impressive range of alcoholic drinks, and the bartender will delight you with great cocktails!

KANDY

SACRED CITY

Kandy is beautiful even shrouded in fog! Set amidst picturesque scenery, in the island's central hills, around a beautiful lake, this bustling little town is steeped in atmosphere and tradition, and it's no coincidence that it's called the 'cultural capital' of the country. The historic city of Kandy has a rich past, and its name comes from the Sinhalese term "Kanda'', which translates as "mountain".This is the sacred heart of Sri Lanka, where the Sinhalese kings resisted for centuries against the Portuguese and then, until 1815, against the British. The culture of the dynasty has flourished for more than 2,500 years, with the most precious treasure remaining and preserved to this day - the tooth of Buddha. The temple of the relic of the sacred tooth is a world-famous place of pilgrimage, being worshiped daily by thousands of local and foreign pilgrims and tourists. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988 and its architecture is in a unique Kandyan style with intricate carvings using gold and silver. The temple was built close to the ancient royal palace, located north of the temple, and to the forest reserve, called Udawatta Kelaya, to the east. A walk along the lake or the streets offers stunning views of colonial buildings with ancient architectural styles, lively places serving authentic Kandyan cuisine, and the colorful life of the locals.

Amaya Hills 4*

In the Kandy area, we chose a unique and attractive place for our overnight stay here! Set amongst picturesque mountain ranges and enveloped by the old-world atmosphere of the Kingdom of Kandy, just 5 kilometers from the city, this location provides an unforgettable experience brimming with tranquility and Kandyan charm. The spacious accommodation has everything you need for a comfortable stay and sleep - air conditioning, minibar, tea or coffee pot, and satellite TV. A dinner and breakfast buffet is included with your stay here, providing a varied choice of Western and Eastern cuisine. The hotel has a 24-hour restaurant, two bars with a wide range of refreshments, and free Wi-Fi in the main lobby. For guests wishing to relax and unwind, the hotel offers various massage treatments and a wet and dry sauna.

DAMBULA

THE GOLDEN TEMPLE OF BUDDHA

The famous rock cave temple in Dambulla is an iconic symbol of Sri Lanka. It has been visited by pilgrims for 22 centuries, and the awe-inspiring giant Buddha statue stands proudly at the start of the road to Dambulla, hence the complex's other name, the Golden Temple of Buddha. Located in the central part of the island, the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple is a Buddhist site that consists of five cave shrines. From as far back as three centuries BC, monks living in the forests transformed the caves into the most remarkable temples for worship in South and Southeast Asia. In keeping with a long tradition of living Buddhist ritual practices and continued royal patronage, the cave shrines underwent renovation and upgrading before taking on their current interior appearance. The vast interior spaces of the cave shrines are not divided into parts but are spatially demarcated by a purposeful and subtle arrangement of polychrome sculpture with exceptional skill and decorated with brilliant compositions of murals. This spatial hierarchy and purposeful interior layout, devoid of physical divisions, leads worshippers systematically through the spaces from one ritual function to the next. The site is remarkable in the Buddhist world for its connection to an unbroken tradition of living Buddhist ritual practices and pilgrimage over more than two millennia. It is an impressive temple complex where visitors are left awestruck by the 1500 meditating Buddha images painted on the arch of the Maha Alut Viharaya cave, 153 Buddha statues, three statues of kings, and four statues of gods and goddesses! Evidence of indigenous civilizations long before the coming of Indian influence to the island nation can also be seen here. A human skeleton dating back 2,700 years has also been found in the temple!

SIGIRIA

THE LION'S HEAD

Sigiriya is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka and for good reasons. Rising dramatically from the central plains, the enigmatic rock peak of Sigiriya is perhaps the island's most dramatic landmark. The near-vertical walls rise to a flat-topped peak that houses the ruins of an ancient civilization, thought to be the epicenter of the short-lived kingdom of Kasapa. This ruined fifth-century city has some outstanding features and manner of construction - ramparts, exquisite frescoes, and the remains of a royal palace, moats, richly landscaped gardens, and a monastery. The ancient fort, called the eighth wonder of the world, displays authentic rock-cutting methods, wall arts, and the unlimited talent of Sri Lanka's first settlers.

Fresco Water Villa 4*

For our time spent in the Dambulla and Sigiriya areas, we chose an exciting place located by a waterway and representing a true architectural work of art! Each building in this three-star complex is surrounded by beautiful water lakes, where fish swim happily, and smell the flowers amidst lovely greenery. A vast swimming pool stretches across the hotel grounds, where the sun's rays reflect off a lake full of water lilies. The accommodation rooms offer tranquility and spectacular views of the water gardens and coconut palms in the distance. Each is equipped with all modern amenities including internet, satellite TV, and a balcony. Our two-night stay includes breakfasts and dinners served in the main buffet restaurant, providing a variety of flavors and tastes from around the world!!! *Fresco Water Villa provides us with pleasure and relaxation after a long day of emotions and impressions. Here under the starry sky, surrounded by the scent of flowers and the breeze you can enjoy your favorite drinks in the wonderful cocktail bar.

COLOMBO

CONTRASTS AND HISTORY

Called in the past the "Garden City of the East", Colombo is a must-stop for every traveler on the island! No longer just a sprawling city to traverse on the way to the beaches, it has become a worthy destination and is an excellent start or finish to your Sri Lankan adventure. The rich colonial heritage here, a mix of races, religions, and cultures showcases the country's best and worst. The city is a contrast - mansions, lavish gardens, fine dining, shopping malls filled with expensive designer brands that sit next to slums, and the congestion along the street markets. Despite its small size as a capital city, Colombo offers many entertainment and places to impress. From a tuk-tuk ride, a visit to the Petah market, the colorful bustling streets, and eating out to playing golf and drinking tea in one of the colonial-style hotels overlooking the Indian Ocean and a beautiful sunset!

KALUTARA

PRIVACY AND EXOTIC

Located just 40 kilometers from the capital Colombo, Calutara is a bustling city on the island's southern coast. This place has a glorious history of the past, which can be seen today in the many buildings of the colonial era. The city embodies the spirit of its famous motifs - culture, sweet experiences, and the gateway to adventure on Sri Lanka's southern coast. Within its boundaries, surrounded by coconut palms and the ocean breeze, unforgettable days await you, starting with beautiful sunrises filled with emotions and beach fun, and fresh seafood ending with unforgettable sunsets!
