We will delve into the history of this ancient world where the legendary King Minos, son of Zeus, ruled and the fearsome Minotaur was imprisoned in the labyrinth of Daedalus! The archaeological world is astounded that a civilization of such maturity and sophistication existed in Europe at the same time as the great pharaohs of Egypt. The highly developed society of the Minoans is revealed through the details, and its reconstructions will help us imagine what the palace might have looked like in its heyday. Myths and legends will fascinate us, and then it's time to get to the real facts at one of Greece's most important museums - the Heraklion History Museum! Here we will see exhibits of Minoan culture and art from all periods of Cretan civilization, spanning a chronological period of over 5500 years from Neolithic to Roman times. Our walk continues through the central market of Heraklion, which can be found on 1866 Street, which is of great historical importance for Crete, as it was here that one of the uprisings of the Cretan nation took place in the struggle for freedom from the Ottoman Empire! Enjoy the capital city of Crete and its atmosphere, where you will find a casual urban sophistication with thriving cafes and restaurants, amazing food, and shops.

Its Venetian-Ottoman quarter is a lyrical maze of streets covered with colorful canopies and exquisite wooden houses with balconies, ornate monuments, and towering minarets. Here you will have the opportunity to drink coffee and explore the Agia Triada Monastery - a Venetian monastery with over 300 years of history. On our way, we will pass by Mount Idi with Psiloritis, the highest peak on the island, which road will lead us to the beautiful and magnetic town of Chania, passing through a beautiful Venetian quarter, crisscrossed by narrow streets and a magnificent harbor. Remnants of Venetian and Turkish architecture abound, and the old townhouses have now been converted into cozy restaurants and boutique hotels. The old harbor, where many small fishing boats are tied up, is the perfect place to enjoy the view and the bustle while drinking coffee or eating delicious food! The last stop of our excursion is Lake Kournas, where we will have the opportunity for amazing photos! This all sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

Approaching Santorini from the water, it's hard not to be awed by the sheer cliffs that tower above the turquoise sea, the fact that you're sailing into a huge crater of a sunken volcano, and that before you lies an island shaped by an ancient eruption whose cataclysm you can't imagine. High above loom the villages of Fira and Oia with their white Cycladic houses that line the clifftops and spill like ice ledges over the terraced cliffs. And finally, there are the sunsets, where everyone watching this spectacle bursts into applause as they watch the sun disappear behind the horizon.

We'll take you to the Lasithi Plateau, one of the most beautiful places that used to impress with its 10,000 windmills and amazing scenery. The first stop of our itinerary is the Panagia Gyverotissa Monastery, which will impress us with its old history, and then the village of Krasi will welcome us with the oldest tree on Crete. The excursion continues with a visit to the monastery of Kera Cardiotissa and the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, as well as priceless frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries. After visiting the monastery, during the tour of the plateau of Lassithi, one passes through the village of Psychro, and there is the cave where, according to mythology, Zeus was born, the father of all gods and men. In the village of Mohos, we will stop for a short walk along the picturesque streets or just a cup of traditional Greek coffee. The last place on our itinerary is the Eco Park of Lacintos, a traditional Cretan village that will introduce us to the life and traditions of the local people. Here we will take more time to soak up the typical atmosphere, you can see a working loom, candle making, potter's wheels, mountain honey, and herbs, also free olive oil, liqueurs, wines, cheeses, olive paste to taste, and take home! Our vacation is over and today after breakfast we are preparing our luggage and taking with us a bunch of collected emotions, impressions, and sensations from this wonderful destination! A transfer takes us to Heraklion airport where our charter flight to Varna is. After landing, we part ways until next time and new destinations!
